Obituary of Mary A. Fortunato

Mary Angeline Fortunato, 89, of Venice, Florida passed away peacefully on Friday, May 14, 2021. She was born on June 6, 1931 in Avella, to the late Frank and Josephine (Marchio) DeFilippis. Mary, affectionally known as "Kiki" was raised in Weirton, West Virginia, and married Stephen in 1950 and resided in Steubenville, Ohio until moving to Rockville, Maryland in 1964 for their careers and to raise their family for over thirty years. Mary worked as the secretary to the principal at Rockville High School and Falls Meade Elementary. Upon retiring, they moved to Englewood, and then to a retirement community in Venice, Florida. She volunteered for over twenty years at the Venice Chapter of Tidewell Hospice. She is pre-deceased by her husband of sixty-eight years, Stephen and a daughter, Felicia Survivors include her six children: Roberta Prevo, Angela Medina, Steve Fortunato, Andrea Junghans and Anita Marisi; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; and two brothers: Joseph and Frank DeFilippis. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 1 PM at Gulf Pines Memorial Park Cemetery, 2401 Englewood Road, Englewood, Florida 34223. Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Florida 34238 in memory of Mary Fortunato.
