Obituary of Kenneth Murtaugh

KENNETH W. MURTAUGH, Jr. Kenneth William Murtaugh, Jr., 41, of Port Charlotte died Sunday, June 22, 2008 at his Charlotte County residence. Born on June 29, 1966 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania he had been a resident of Charlotte County for six years coming from Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Ken served in the U.S. Coast Guard for twenty years and retired in 2006. He was a fire fighter for the Lee County South Trail Fire Department in Fort Myers for two years; and was a member of the Suncoast Worship Center Church of God in Englewood, FL. Survivors include his wife: Tracy Lyn Murtaugh; four children: Colin Murtaugh of Boston, MA; Samantha and Kent Murtaugh of Bourne, MA; Shane Murtaugh of Venice, FL; step children: Michael Pope of Bourne, MA; Victoria and Daniel Rake and Seth James Hale all of Englewood, FL; mother: Carol (Al) Brown of Newport News, VA; father: Kenneth W. Murtaugh, Sr. of Port Charlotte, FL; sister: Kelly Evers of Newport News, VA; brothers: Kevin (Lisa) Murtaugh of Carthage, NC and Keith Murtaugh of Englewood, FL; and paternal grandmother: Jean Murtaugh of Richmond, VA. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2008 at 1 PM at the Suncoast Worship Center Church of God, 881 South River Road with Pastor Phillip Williams, officiating. Burial will be in Florida National Cemetery on Monday, June 30, 2008 at 1 PM with Coast Guard Honors. Contributions may be made to the Kenneth Murtaugh Memorial Fund at any Colonial Bank for his children.
